Natural Stone

Stone Habitat prides itself on being the supplier of some of the finest and best quality natural stone counter tops in the Chicago region.
We offer several stone options that come in a variety of beautiful naturally occurring patterns. Options include:

  • Slate and Quartzite
  • Quartz is a metamorphic rock formed from sandstone. It is an extremely hard rock that is not water or acid-soluble.
It is harder than glass and, in its purest form, it is white like marble, but can have impurities that
lead to incredible patterns and colors.

  • Marble
  • Marble starts out in a sedimentary form as dolomite or limestone and, once it has been subjected to severe heat
and pressure, it turns into a beautiful stone. Marble offers a great deal of design capabilities due to its classic beauty,
natural cooling properties, heat resistant, and durability.

  • Travertine
  • Travertine is a form of limestone deposited by naturally occurring mineral springs, especially hot springs.
It is very porous, and looks almost like marble. Travertine countertops look beautiful and delicate, and are
very good at reflecting light, which makes the kitchen a brighter place to work in.

  • Limestone
  • Limestone is a sedimentary rock composed largely of the minerals calcite and aragonite. One of the biggest advantages to
limestone is that there is an incredible amount of adaptability to the stone. It is highly durable, has an incredible
amount of heat resistance, and is known for being very sturdy. Limestone bears a remarkable resemblance to marble,
and its natural color is typically a white or other sandy like colors.

Porcelain & Ceramics

Porcelain and ceramic tiles have a less natural appearance, but require less maintenance than nature stone and cost less to install.
Porcelain bears a perception of high quality and is particularly tough. Stone Habitat is an authorized design center for Crossville Tile.
